Our living arthropods
Our living arthropods
One should always gather as much information as possible before welcoming living beings into their home! They are neither objects nor toys. For their well-being and your enjoyment, we must strive to faithfully replicate the parameters of their natural living environment.

Citizen science
IN SEARCH OF INSECTS
.png)
Since 2010, Opie has been involved in open citizen science programs. The goal? To teach you how to observe and identify insect species, while contributing to large-scale scientific projects!
Open your eyes wide! Go search for two insects found in Europe: the stag beetle and the Alpine longhorn beetle. Every observation and information shared is extremely valuable for scientists collecting data throughout French territory. Thanks to these contributions, we can year after year improve our knowledge of the insects in question, their distribution, and the conservation status of their populations. So, for the 2024 season: we're counting on you!
How does it work? It's simple, as soon as you think you've spotted a stag beetle or an Alpine longhorn beetle (see above), just fill out a short form and attach a photo, if you have one. You can also participate through the INPN Espèces app (photo required) by joining the quest "I think I saw a stag beetle/Alpine longhorn beetle". After submitting your observations, you will be informed about the processing of your data. Depending on the quality of the photos and information provided, you can earn points and climb levels. You can then find your validated observations on the Détermin’Obs platform and explore all the shared observations on the INPN Espèces app.
